“Sometimes we get caught up in careers and never take the opportunity to stop and start over. If there’s something you’re passionate about, go after it.” ~ Shelia Bridges, Interior Designer
Everyone has a story to tell and A Design State of Mind is a new chapter in this book I call, my life. My name is Danielle and I’m an aspiring interior designer. I have a degree in History and Political Science and have taken courses in interior design at Harrington College of Design in Chicago, IL. I believe that good design inspires the mind, body and soul. This blog was created for Design Minds, like me, who find inspiration in all forms of design – interior design, architecture, furniture, fashion, art, music, food, photography, and nature. I love music, especially music that speaks to my soul. In fact, the title, A Design State of Mind, was inspired by the lyrics to Jay-Z’s song, New York State of Mind. I believe that song is for anyone who has a dream. Currently, I’m in a state of mind of pursuing my dreams. To keep me motivated, I will introduce each blog post with a quote from a song that relates to that particular blog topic or describes my Design State of Mind at that moment. I’m also on a social mission to improve diversity in interior design on all levels. A Design State of Mind serves as a platform to highlight the work of African-American interior designers, architects, and furniture designers (past and present). I hope my inner musings will inspire you creatively, socially, and mentally.
Design To Inspire,
Danielle
